Mais c\u2019est aussi isoler le mercure qu\u2019elles contiennent pour ne pas polluer. La fili\u00e8re de recyclage des ampoules repr\u00e9sente des emplois locaux, des investissements dans la recherche et le d\u00e9veloppement pour toujours mieux recycler, et dans l\u2019\u00e9co-conception pour optimiser la recyclabilit\u00e9 des produits. Le verre, qui constitue 88 % du poids des lampes, est principalement r\u00e9utilis\u00e9 pour la fabrication de tubes fluorescents. Mais aussi pour fabriquer des abrasifs ou des isolants. Les m\u00e9taux des contacts et culots (5 % du poids) sont r\u00e9int\u00e9gr\u00e9s dans les fili\u00e8res de fabrication de divers produits neufs comme les canettes. Les plastiques (4 %) sont souvent incin\u00e9r\u00e9s, la mise en place d&rsquo;une fili\u00e8re de recyclage n&rsquo;\u00e9tant pas \u00e9conomiquement viable. Les poudres fluorescentes (3 %) ne sont actuellement pas recyclables dans des conditions acceptables. Elles sont enfouies dans des installations de stockage de d\u00e9chets ultimes et stabilis\u00e9es.
